A higher concentration of lactobacilli and a lower pH in the crop hinder the entrance of Salmonella. The dietary organic acids’ antibacterial effect in chickens mainly occurs in the upper part of the digestive tract, ensuring optimal gut health and effective protection against harmful bacteria.
